JOINT MEETING HELD FOR ENVIRONMENTAL INSPECTORS, PROTECTION OFFICERS AND ECOLOGICAL POLICE OFFICERS
A joint meeting of environmental inspectors, rangers and ecological police officers, held under the auspices of the President of Mongolia, took place on 8 June 2026. A total of 1,384 representatives from relevant environmental and ecological enforcement units participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, President Khurelsukh expressed his appreciation to the officers and personnel serving in the environmental sector.
“I would like to express my sincere appreciation to everyone who is working to protect citizens’ right to live in a healthy and safe environment, safeguard ecosystems, ensure the proper use and restoration of natural resources, prevent desertification, and combat environmental crimes,” the President said.
Participants discussed ways to improve cooperation in preventing, detecting and stopping environmental crimes and violations. They also exchanged views on current challenges, the implementation of environmental legislation, the effectiveness of inspections and enforcement activities, and further measures to strengthen coordination between relevant agencies.
The meeting also highlighted Mongolia’s preparations for the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, which will be held in Ulaanbaatar in August 2026. The conference is expected to bring together around 10,000 delegates from more than 190 countries to discuss desertification, land degradation, drought and pasture management.
The meeting served as an important platform to strengthen cooperation among government agencies and frontline environmental enforcement personnel in protecting the environment, maintaining ecological balance and combating illegal activities that harm nature.
